Review Summary

Skullcandy has been offering outstanding and stylish True wireless earbuds for a long now. Moreover, the fact that some of these earbuds are capable of delivering sound quality equivalent to the premium brands makes these buds even more desirable. But can the same be said for the brand’s budget earbud- Skullcandy Sesh Evo? I have been using the earbuds for more than a week now and can say they are sufficient enough for the price you are paying.

However, to understand in depth about the audio quality, battery life and other additional features, you must go through this Skullcandy Sesh Evo review. So, let’s get started without any delay.

PROS

  • Powerful audio
  • Tile tracker integration
  • Decent battery life

Skullcandy Sesh Evo Specs At A Glance

Let’s have a look at the specs in brief now:

  • Connectivity: Bluetooth V5.0

  • Battery: Up to 24 hours of playback time
  • Weight: 63 grams

Skullcandy Sesh Evo Design And Comfort

Skullcandy has adopted a similar old design as that of the previous model. The charging case is made up of plastic which neither gives a cheap feel nor looks premium. It lies somewhere in between. I used the black one for my Skullcandy Sesh Evo review.

On the front, there are LED lights that show the status of the battery and next to it is the pairing button. I liked the battery light feature as I did not have to take the phone outside to know the battery information.

At the back, you will find the Type-C charging port. The case has a very basic design, but it is compact and can fit into your pocket easily. Also, the overall weight of the Skullcandy Sesh Evo is just 63 grams. Hence it is not heavy as well.

Inside the case, there is no LED status indicator. The buds feature an in-ear design which has got both its perks and downsides. For example, the buds can fit into your ears easily, and you don’t need to adjust them again and again while walking or running. However, wearing them right might take you some time.

Opening the case with one hand is convenient. Also, the buds are IP55-rated and can remain safe from sweat, water, and dust.

Skullcandy Sesh Evo Audio Quality

Coming to the audio part, Skullcandy is inclined towards a bassy audio profile and claims the same for the Sesh Evo. On paper, Skullcandy Sesh Evo offers stronger bass and low-end performance. However, this TWS earbud features muddy bass, which means, at points, the audio might not be clear.

While the low-end frequency is significantly on point, the mid sounds a bit muddy, and the highs are not clear. I tried the buds against different Hollywood and Bollywood songs and got the same result throughout.

The earbud packs three different equalizer profiles- movies, music and podcast modes. When compared, music mode had a pleasant sound to offer, while the podcast mode cuts out the bass entirely and is good just for listening to podcasts.

Coming to the call quality, it is a major setback. I would recommend using these buds just for in-house calls too, when there is no noise in the background. Since the earbuds don’t have transparency or ambient mode, it was quite challenging for me to convey my words or to understand what the other person was saying on the call when outside.

Skullcandy Sesh Evo Battery Life And Charging

Next, in my Skullcandy Sesh Evo review, I will share the playback and charging time experience. These TWS earbuds claim to be offering a total of 24 hours of playback time, including five hours on the buds and 19 hours on the case.

When using it practically, I was able to get around four and a half hours of playback time on a single charge. Also, I need not charge the case for almost a week, given I used the buds for around two hours daily. So, my overall experience with the battery life was surprisingly good.

Furthermore, the earbuds support rapid charging. Hence you don’t have to wait for hours to fully charge the case. Just 10 minutes of charge will offer you two hours of playback time. Additionally, the charging case can charge the buds fully up to three times.

Skullcandy Sesh Evo Features And Connectivity

In terms of features, the Skullcandy Sesh Evo has added a Tile tracker option. This means you can easily find your earbuds when lost or misplaced, provided you are in close proximity to the buds. You just need to download the Tile app and follow the given instructions.

Talking about connectivity, this TWS earbud comes with Bluetooth V5.0. Although reliable at times, I did experience some connection dropouts and had to pair the device again. This can be a loophole here.

However, it is quite easy to connect the earbuds to any Bluetooth device. Just take the buds out of the case, and they will automatically connect to the already paired nearby device.

Skullcandy Sesh Evo features

If you are pairing the buds for the first time, simply press the button given on the case and tap on the Device name displayed in the available Bluetooth devices of your phone.

Skullcandy Sesh Evo has button control which can be a bit discomforting. Pressing the button can cause pressure on your ear as you need to press the button quite hard to perform any function.

When you press both buttons simultaneously for two seconds, it will power on the earbuds or power them down after four seconds. Tapping once on either button plays or pauses music or answers or ends a phone call.

Pressing the left side for two seconds takes you to the previous track, while if you press the right earbud’s button for two seconds, it will take you to the next rack.

A double tap on either ear lowers or raises the volume. Three taps open your mobile device’s voice assistant, and four taps take you through the available EQ modes: Movie, Music, or Podcast.

Unfortunately, Skullcandy Sesh Evo has no companion app to further enhance or modify the settings and audio quality.

Verdict

That concludes the Skullcandy Sesh Evo review. These TWS earbuds are good for starters, but I won’t recommend them if you are a hardcore audiophile. The sound quality justifies its price. However, the build could have been better. Skullcandy has an integrated Tile tracker feature with this earbud which is quite an amazing move, given the price bracket. Also, the brand is offering two years of warranty on this product. So, it is safe to say that this is a decent pair of TWS earbuds.
