Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is now on its way to PC players. The first version of the game, titled Death Stranding, was Hideo Kojima’s first game after infamously leaving Konami in 2015. Since then, he has worked on Death Stranding and brought it to the console players in 2019. Fast forward to 2022, and a Director’s Cut version of the game is being released for PC.

Since the game was released in 2019, it has sold over five million copies worldwide. Death Stranding divided gamers’ opinions upon release. Critics and gamers worldwide loved the unique storytelling aspects, graphics, soundtrack, and voice acting. However, many gamers weren’t loving the slow-paced nature of the game. Whichever way you want to see it, Hideo Kojima knew how to turn heads with this gaming release. Now, let’s move on to what you need to know for Death Stranding: Director’s Cut.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut Release Dates

Death Stranding Director’s Cut is bound for release on March 30, 2022. The game is releasing to PC players via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut Content

The game will feature plenty of extra content to satisfy PC players worldwide. Even if you’ve played the original game to completion, you will find new things to do in this version. There are new equipment, vehicles, and weapons added to this version of the game. Moreover, all the new content you will find in the game has been built from the ground up by the new publisher, 505 Games. In addition, the game’s story has been extended as well. While we don’t have information on how many extra hours of gameplay have been added, it’s likely a substantial amount.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut PC System Requirements

When Death Stranding was released in 2020 for PC players, the requirements seemed less for how good the game looked. Thankfully, not much has changed. The minimum and recommended system requirements are good enough for mid-range PC gamers.

  • GPU – Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 4GB / AMD Radeon RX 560 4GB

New Mode

This version of the game is also coming with an all-new Racing Mode. Since they are adding plenty of new vehicles onto the list, you might as well take these new cars out for a spin. Moreover, with the beautiful and desolate vistas that Hideo Kojima has created for the game, this will be a sight to see. You will race around circuits and try to set the best times. Your fellow racers will be holograms of other players online who’ve played the circuit. This might seem like an exciting addition to an open-world game like this, but we’re sure that Kojima has thought of something worthwhile here!

Enhancements for the PC version

When the game was released for the PC in 2020, the version seemed very close to the game’s aesthetics in PlayStation 5. However, this time around, Hideo Kojima has promised even further upgrades to Death Stranding: Director’s Cut on PC. If you have or plan to acquire Intel’s upscaling technology XeSS, you’re in luck. This game will take full advantage of this technology and is one of the first games to do so.

The publishers, 505 Games, have also promised smoother frame rates and faster loading times. The graphics have been improved even further, and you can now play this game on your ultrawide monitor setups.

Other Gameplay Additions

Considering the sizeable open world that Hideo Kojima has created for this game, the Director’s Cut will feature more recreational activities. Instead of just going from one point to another for deliveries, the protagonist can now indulge in fun activities scattered around the world. As mentioned earlier, there are new weapons and equipment to improve the protagonist’s arsenal.

You can also try out all these new tools and customise your arsenal to your liking through a firing range. These firing ranges will be available in different locations throughout the game’s world. You can access them between missions to see if the weapons and tools you’re carrying can be helpful for a particular assignment.

For these new tools, you also get side-quests based on them. This adds hours of new gameplay to the already colossal storyline. Coming to the storyline additions, you won’t find too many extra missions. While the story missions may not be too long, their content is sure to surprise both old and new players of the franchise.

PlayStation 5 Features

The game will feature support for the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller. This implies that you can take full advantage of the DualSense controller’s Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers. Although we’re not quite sure yet how this will be implemented in the gameplay, we’re sure there will be some exciting gameplay additions for it. In addition to this, for those of you looking for better in-game audio, you’ve got it. The publishers have confirmed that the game will feature 3D Audio Support. This addition will elevate the gameplay experience even further, especially if you have the latest gaming PC.
