BGMI Showdown – Prizes, Dates, And All You Need To Know!

BGMI is one of the most popular online battle royale games of all time. So, it’s no surprise that it’s made a valuable mark in the eSports industry. In fact, multiple high-level tournaments have already been held, with plenty of Indian gamers finding success in the circuit. Now, there’s another chance for India to find its footing in eSports. Krafton has announced that from 21 July to 24 July 2022, it will host a mega event called BGMI Showdown. This event is one of the most significant eSports events that India will see and has a total prize pool of INR 15 Lakhs!

There’s a good chance that the best teams from the BGIS 2021 and the first season of BMPS 2022 will be invited to the event. BGMI Showdown will feature the top 24 teams from all over the country, competing for a massive prize pool. Let’s learn a bit more about this event in detail!

Which are the teams competing?

Unfortunately, Krafton hasn’t announced the names of the competing teams yet. It will most likely be revealed before the start of the tournament. As stated earlier, expect the top teams from around the country to form a part of the list. BGIS 2021 and the inaugural season of BMPS 2022 have already seen some of the country’s best players. So, if you’ve followed these tournaments, you’ll be seeing some familiar names on the list for the BGMI Showdown. The total number of teams competing here is 24, boasting of the best BGMI players from all over the country.

PMWI: After Party Showdown

For the uninitiated, PMWI stands for PUBG Mobile World Invitational. This is one of the largest mobile eSports tournaments in the world, with the best teams from all over the world competing against each other for the ultimate prize and glory. This time, the BGMI Showdown is offering a golden ticket to Indian teams to represent their country in the PUBG world tournament. In fact, the winning team will lock down a spot in the PMWI: After Party Showdown tournament, which will be held from 18 August to 20 August 2022.

This event is being kept under wraps for the moment. However, Team Soul, who won BMPS Season 1, will be one of the teams competing in the PMWI: Main Event. This event features 18 teams, and the best five teams in the competition will move on to the PMWI: After Party Showdown.

Prize pool

Since PMWI is one of the biggest mobile eSports events in the world, it’s understandable that there’s a considerable amount of prize money involved. Basically, there are two sections to PMWI 2022. The first is the Main Event, which has a prize money of $2 million. The second is the After Party Showdown, which provides a cash prize of $1 million. This makes the total prize pool worth $3 million. Even though the winner of the BGMI Showdown will not be competing in the Main Event, it offers smaller and underdog teams a better chance at worldwide mobile gaming glory. Apart from the $1 million prize pool, these smaller teams will also get the chance to perform on the big stage, thereby increasing their exposure.

Streaming the event

The event will be livestreamed by Krafton and Tencent. You can watch the event on the official YouTube channel of Battlegrounds Mobile India. It can also be streamed on the Loco platform. In either case, livestreaming starts when the tournament sets off on 21 July 2022.
