Valorant is a tactical FPS (first-person shooter) that will challenge you in surprising ways. Of course, the basics of the game have been taken from the popular Counter-Strike games. However, the developers, Riot Games, have added their unique twists to the game. Each character in the game has unique abilities that cater to different playing styles. Moreover, the characters have utilities such as smoke bombs and frag grenades to add to the firepower. Nonetheless, at the end of the day, it’s about the guns. This is why we’re providing you with our picks for the best guns in Valorant.
Keep in mind that this list only gives the players a basic idea about how the guns work. You may use these guns as your primary weapons. However, different situations call for various guns. Once you find a favourite gun, it’ll be easier to designate certain guns for specific situations. Now, let’s jump into the list!

Ghost – The best pistol
Since you won’t be flush with money when starting a match, you have to choose your pistol wisely. It can either make or break your game at the very beginning. Our recommendation for a pistol has to be Ghost. Despite the high recoil, it’s pretty powerful and fast. Stand close to an opponent and shoot them directly in the head with this pistol to get an instant kill, regardless of the type of armour they’re wearing. It can hold a fair amount of rounds too. However, you shouldn’t keep firing with this pistol continuously as the gun recoil will make you wildly inaccurate and open to shots.

Penetration – Medium

Spectre – A versatile SMG
SMGs (Submachine guns) offer plenty of movement without compromising too much on the damage output. Of course, they won’t be as accurate as an assault rifle in the longer ranges. Nonetheless, a good SMG will be your best friend for close to medium-range combat. There aren’t too many SMG options in Valorant, and we’re going with the obvious – Spectre. It’s more expensive than the Stinger but will provide more damage and accuracy. Don’t expect extremely fast firing rates with this weapon, though.

Penetration – Medium

Bucky – A cheap shotgun alternative
The Bucky is definitely not a gun you should go for if you’ve got plenty of cash. However, we’re mentioning this here because Valorant‘s gameplay doesn’t exactly call for shotgun utilisation. The game is intense and fast-paced, calling for the usage of assault rifles, SMGs, and at the most, a sniper rifle. Nonetheless, some situations call for a shotgun, especially if you’re rushing into an area and need to quickly kill the enemies. The Bucky won’t cost you much and will provide ample damage to one-shot enemies who are low on health or armour. Go for this if you absolutely need a shotgun.
Magazine size – 5
Penetration – Low
Price – 850
Phantom – Reliability personified
Yes, the Phantom is one of the most expensive assault rifles you can get in the game. However, it’s also one of the best. Instead of thinking of it as an expense, think of this gun as an investment. It’s deadly accurate at close to medium range and can provide substantial damage output even at long range. Moreover, the recoil on this gun is comparatively less, leading to more accurate shots. Regardless of whether you’re using the semi-auto or full-auto mode, this gun is accurate and won’t provide extensive recoil.

Penetration – Medium
Price – 2900

Operator – Sniping made easier
The above line might be a bit misleading. Sniping in Valorant isn’t an easy task, in general. It takes quite a while to master the gun recoil and accuracy and better your reflexes to catch enemy movements. However, if you’re even half-decent at sniping and want to indulge in some sniping goodness, there’s no sniper better than the Operator. Even the Ultimate ability of some characters uses the Operator to take down enemies. This gun is exceptional at long range and can kill anyone if the shot hits the target, regardless of how heavy their armour is. The only con of this rifle is that it takes a while to scope in. This makes you an easy target if you’re not behind cover.
Magazine size – 5
Penetration – High
Price – 4700
Ares – A cheaper, godly LMG
LMGs (light machine guns) in Valorant aren’t used that often. If you’re in the mood for mopping the floor with your enemies’ remains, Ares should be the LMG you go for. It’s cheaper than the alternative, Odin, and has a decent rate of fire. Its damage output is satisfactory in most cases and can clear out an enemy push in a few seconds, especially if they’re under 20 meters. We wouldn’t recommend you to use LMGs in general, but if the situation calls for it, Ares should be the LMG you buy.

The takeaway
Valorant has around 17 guns for your selection process. This extensive selection made it rather difficult to bring down the list to just a few options, but we’ve chosen the guns that are best for beginners to use as a guideline. Shotguns and LMGs aren’t needed all the time, and it’d make little sense to buy them, which is why we’ve listed the cheaper options. However, for SMGs and Assault Rifles, you should go for the best. We hope you liked this list of the best guns in Valorant, and we look forward to your thoughts on this list in the comments!
