As the COVID-19 pandemic grew, India went under lockdown from mid-March 2020. With the lockdown, came the new normal. Going out for things other than the bare essential was prevented and as a result, schools and colleges were shut down. Since the classrooms were inaccessible, classes started taking place via online mediums. A major consequence of this was underprivileged children getting left behind.

To attend online classes, children need a smartphone and a stable internet connection, both of which are beyond the means for many Indian families. We at Cashify came up with an initiative to combat this issue. Our Donate for Education campaign, in association with a couple of non-government organizations, started sourcing smartphones from well-meaning users. Smartphones that were no longer in use could be handed over to us, which would then be refurbished and transferred to the children in need.
We made this option available online for prospective donors. All one needs to do is visit our website, place an order and get their devices picked up from their doorstep. These devices, after refurbishing, go to children who use them for their online classes. So far, we have managed to hand over a number of smartphones to the needy. However, it is not enough as there are a lot more children in need.
