Over the previous few months, Realme has launched several phones in the market. And to continue this trend, Realme has launched GT Neo 3 which promises to outperform its competitors.

The Realme GT Neo 3 features great specs and a sleek look, but it stands out because of its race car design. But that is just about looks.

The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8100, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-equivalent processor. This clearly makes it a powerhouse phone, with a high-end display and a great set of cameras to back it up.

Here’s the big deal: The device sports a fast-charging 80W option, but that’s not all, there’s also a 150W option available. So without further ado, let’s get right into it and begin with the detailed review of the Realme GT Neo 3.

Realme GT Neo 3 Specs at a glance

Realme GT Neo 3 Design and Build

Realme’s phones are known for their striking looks, and the same goes got Realme GT Neo 3. The front and back are both made of glass, and the frame is constructed of plastic. There are a lot of other mid-range high-end phones that look and feel like this.

The phone has a sturdy build quality, and I found no creaking noises or signs of flexing to be seen. In addition to the blue colour variant that I have for the review, the company also offers it in black and white colour options.

    Realme GT Neo 3 Design

When placed on a level surface, the phone wobbles slightly due to the camera bump, however, this is a common issue among smartphones these days. I’ve been particularly impressed by its weight distribution. When compared to other smartphones with a screen size of 6.7 inches, its weight of 188 grams is quite less.

The phone lacks an IP rating which is the factor that differentiates mid-range smartphones from actual flagships these days. The body is solid, the ports and buttons are conveniently located, and the materials used are of a decent quality considering the price.

Realme GT Neo 3 right side

You will find the volume buttons on the left side while the power button is on the right side. It has a loudspeaker at its bottom as well as at its top, allowing for stereo sound effect. The bottom of the phone includes a USB Type-C port, a mic, and a dual-SIM slot.

Realme GT Neo 3 bottom side

To sum it up, the realme GT Neo 3 has a sleek and sturdy design, making it one of the best-built smartphones in its class.

    Realme GT Neo 3 Camera

The backside of the realme GT Neo 3 sports a triple camera setup. It has a 50MP (Sony IMX766) primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro lens. A 16MP front-facing camera takes care of the selfies.

Realme GT Neo 3 isn’t a camera-centric smartphone, but its primary camera delivers good quality shots. Photos taken in daylight through the primary camera are worthy of sharing on social media.

    Realme GT Neo 3 Camera

You can certainly take good-looking images if you are skilled at photography. The images appear to be well-detailed and have a wide dynamic range. I like how quickly the autofocus works in well-lit situations.

It takes good pictures in Portrait mode. The blurring effect is done gently, and the subjects are well separated from the background.

Unfortunately, the phone’s ultrawide camera falls far short of expectations. It sports an 8MP camera, which is on par with most mid-range smartphones. Expectedly, photos taken with the ultrawide camera have less detail and more noise. The dynamic range isn’t as good as it is on the primary camera.

The 2MP macro lens is capable of taking decent photos, but it requires suitable lighting to get the best results. Although the device lacks an optical zoom, the camera app features digital zoom that you should avoid using.

The 16MP camera captures a decent amount of detail, however, the colours seem washed out. Selfies taken in low light were usually grainy and lacked detail.

The back cameras can record videos at 4K@30/60fps and 1080p@30/60fps, but the front cameras can only record at 1080p@30fps. The primary back camera captures very detailed videos. I recorded some 1080p60fps videos using the primary camera and they were well stabilised, as expected.

Realme GT Neo 3 Battery and Charging

The Realme GT Neo 3 is available in two variants, as previously stated: the 150W variant featuring a 4500 mAh battery and the 80W variant featuring a 5000mAh battery. We are using the latter.

    Realme GT Neo 3 Battery

The battery life is about average, and with light to moderate use, it can easily last a day. A heavy user might need to charge their smartphone twice a day. However, the fast charging technology steals the show here.

It should not come as a surprise that the 150W variant is super fast. It’s absolutely amazing to watch the smartphone climb battery percentage on the lockscreen.

    Realme GT Neo 3 charging

The phone reaches 50 per cent with the 80W charger in about 12 minutes, while using the 150W charger takes about 5 minutes to charge 50 per cent.

    Realme GT Neo 3 Display

The Realme GT Neo 3 has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display that is clear, bright, colourful, and smooth. It boasts a refresh rate of 120Hz, which makes it ideal for normal user interface navigation, online browsing, and gaming.

    Realme GT Neo 3 Display

Additionally, the GT Neo 3 has a dedicated processor for the display to ensure that the frame rate does not dip when playing games.

This is an excellent display that offers HDR10+ and has a peak brightness of 1000 nits. You will see an in-display fingerprint scanner on the front and a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 to protect it.

Realme GT Neo 3 Display HDR

The bezels around the display are very thin and offer a great viewing experience. The device has a screen-to-body ratio of nearly 94%, allowing for a more immersive movie-watching experience.

A significant improvement in terms of picture quality has been made in comparison to the previous generation’s display. You now get a 1B-color display, which provides greater overall picture quality than a 16M-color display.

Realme GT Neo 3 Display colours

It comes pre-set in Vivid mode, which boosts contrast and produces slightly blue-tinged whites. On top of that, you may tweak the colour temperature by using the slider in the display settings.

    Realme GT Neo 3 Performance

The processor in this phone is the next highlight after the blazing fast charging speeds. The Realme GT Neo 3 is India’s first phone to have the Dimensity 8100 5G processor. It features up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

RAM expansion is also available, allowing you to boost your phone’s memory by an additional 7 GB, for a total of 19 GB of RAM (12 GB RAM variant).

Realme GT Neo 3 RAM expansion

I was amazed by the Dimensity 8100’s performance. It’s fast, stable, and energy-efficient. The performance looks to be faster than that of its predecessor, and it appears to be comparable to that of the Snapdragon 888. Multitasking and heavy gaming are no problem with this smartphone.

With a comparatively low power consumption, it is among the most powerful and efficient chipsets in the premium segment. We did some testing and Geekbench 5 benchmarks scored 971 points in a single-core CPU benchmark and 4,057 points in a multi-core CPU benchmark.

The performance was outstanding even when playing games with high graphic requirements. I spent a couple of hours playing BGMI, Apex Legends Mobile, and Call of Duty Mobile. I did not notice any stuttering or lags even when playing on the highest graphics settings. It got a little warm, but it wasn’t something that was bothersome.

Battlegrounds Mobile India can only run at high frame rates and HD visuals in India for now, which is disappointing. But this can be fixed with a future update and then it might go up to HDR settings.

When you start a game, the GT mode will also activate, which pushes the phone performance even more. You’ll also get access to battery-saving features including balanced mode and low power mode.

When you are gaming on your smartphone, the Stainless Steel Vapour Cooling System will help to keep the temperature in control.

Realme GT Neo 3 Software and UI

In terms of software, the Realme GT Neo 3 runs Realme UI 3.0 based on Android 12. It’s one of the finest skins for Android that you’ll find. It’s no surprise that the Realme UI is loaded with features, and users can customize their smartphone to their own preferences.

Realme GT Neo 3 Software and UI

The realme UI 3.0 is light and fluid, with a smoother experience thanks to the 120 Hz display. The realme UI 3.0 delivers a fresh feel and Fluid Space design, smoother transitions, UI customization, an Always-On Display, additional privacy features, and much more.

Using Omoji, you are able to generate 3D avatars of your own face, with customized hairstyles, headwear, cosmetics, and piercings. You also get a heart rate monitor feature which uses the in-display fingerprint scanner to monitor your heart rate.

Realme has bombarded the phone with third-party apps. These include Dailyhunt, Josh, Moj, MX TakaTak, ShareChat, Byjus, Snapchat and more. Thankfully, you can uninstall these apps from the phone.

The device has a lot of features, including Floating Window 2.0, which helps with multitasking, and the option to clone apps to run a separate account simultaneously.

You can even hide and lock apps and files, as well as see which applications have been using your data, mic, camera, or location in the background.

Having said that, I am unhappy that the device comes with only two years of major OS updates.

Realme GT Neo 3 Audio, Connectivity, Biometrics

The phone also has good sound quality since it has stereo speakers. The sound is crystal-clear and well-balanced thanks to the speakers. I was really impressed by Realme in the audio department, they have done the job well.

However, the phone misses out on a 3.5mm audio jack. You would need to get a Type-C-to-3.5mm dongle or use a bluetooth earphones.

Realme GT Neo 3 comes with dual SIM 5G connectivity. It supports a total of 9 5G Bands: n1, n3, n5, n8, n40, n41, n77, n78, and n28A. Realme GT Neo 3 has Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C among other connectivity options.

    fingerprint scanner

The phone features an in-display optical fingerprint scanner which is positioned slightly lower than usual. It unlocks the phone quickly and is pretty accurate. You can also use the face unlock which works equally good.

    Verdict

The Realme GT Neo 3 prioritises speed in every aspect of its design. It includes the quickest fast-charging technology and a fresh Mediatek chipset, both of which assure that it will perform efficiently and smoothly throughout the day. The Realme GT Neo 3 is a great option if you’re seeking a performance-oriented phone under Rs. 40,000.

It has a solid stance and is well-built. It boasts a stunning display, long battery life, great UI and lightning-fast charging.

Camera quality in daylight and lowlight scenarios with good ambient light was impressive, but I wouldn’t consider this a flagship-level camera system. Not to forget, it lacks an IP rating and a 3.5mm audio jack.

On the other hand, you get features rich Realme UI 3.0, RAM expansion technology, and stereo speakers, all of which contribute to a great user experience. The Realme GT Neo 3 delivers a powerful performance and is an excellent option considering its price.
