An additional major VPN service supplier, Surfshark, has closed down its servers in India in reaction to a proposed rule requiring VPN service providers to preserve and manage their customers’ data after ExpressVPN and NordVPN did the same. However, if you want to access Indian websites, Surfshark has announced that it will introduce virtual Indian servers in the UK and Singapore.
According to the corporation, which has a rigorous “no logs” policy, these new regulations directly conflict with the company’s fundamental values. Surfshark was to make the usage of a virtual private network (VPN) as simple as possible for the average user. According to Gytis Malinauskas, Surfshark’s Head of Legal Affairs, “We will not compromise our ideals or our technological basis” to protect our consumers’ privacy.

What’s More On Surfshark Shutdown?
According to the VPN service provider, one will shut down all of its Indian sites by June 27. Customers will be able to access Indian servers as usual until that time comes. Surfshark will employ virtual servers to allow customers to connect to an Indian IP address when the Indian servers are not there. If you’re using Surfshark to connect to a location outside of India, you won’t see any change.

Since both ExpressVPN and NordVPN recently announced that they were shutting down their India servers. As a result of the Indian government’s directive that requires every VPN service provider to store user data for the first five years of service. Surfshark has become the latest leading VPN service provider to quit the business in India.
Surfshark predicts that the loss of VPN providers based in India would exacerbate the current cybersecurity crisis. According to a report, India’s expanding IT industry is negatively impacted when VPN providers leave the country. Out of the 14.9 billion accounts that Surfshark had tracked since 2004 when massive data breaches began to occur. 254.9 million had belonged to Indian consumers. For every 100 Indians, their personal information was compromised, 18 out of 100.

At the end of April 2022, it had over 3,200 servers spread over 65 countries. It was making it the largest VPN service provider in the Netherlands.
