Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
Qualcomm has declared the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 name of its next flagship mobile platform a week before the November 30, 2021 Snapdragon Summit. The chipset brand has also switched to the new naming system of its platform this year by dropping the “5G” suffix from its official branding.

Recently, the company also mentioned the reason behind dropping the name. Thankfully, the suffix “5G” will be removed from mobile platform names going forward, as 5G has now become ubiquitous enough not to warrant that anymore. Qualcomm is also committed to only launching 5G-capable mobile platforms from this point on, so there is no need to point out the obvious. The company stated this in one of its latest blog posts.
Not only this, but Qualcomm is also bringing changes to its iconic Snapdragon fireball. It will gain new fame and manifest itself in the latest visual assets and other creative executions. Additionally, if we talk about the naming structure, the new product categories will also get this naming scheme. The chipmaker company believes that the new simplified naming structure makes it easier for customers to discover and choose devices powered by Snapdragon.
Also, the brand will make the transition to a single-digit series and generation number too. For example, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 stands for the Snapdragon 700 series, etc. Besides the naming scheme, Qualcomm will drop more details of its flagship chip at the Snapdragon Summit on November 30.
