  • Facebook is officially launching Live Audio Rooms and Podcasts, following months of rumors. Since his discovery on the Clubhouse, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been speculated to be working on the feature. So far, there have been far too many live audio apps, like Clubhouse, Twitter’s Spaces, Spotify’s Greenroom, and others. The addition of Facebook to the list will be a fantastic option for users to host live conversations or music sessions with their connections. Facebook has also stated that it will roll out Podcasts in addition to the Live Audio Rooms.

Facebook has stated that Live Audio Rooms will be available soon, but there is a catch. Currently, the feature is only available in the United States. It’s only available to iOS users. For the time being, Facebook is only allowing Public Figures and certain Facebook Groups to host Live Audio Rooms.

Unlike other live audio platforms such as Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces, which allow anyone to host live audio sessions, Facebook allows only public figures to do so. Users, on the other hand, can find, listen to, and engage in live conversations with public figures, experts, and others about things that interest them.

The host has the authority to ask others to talk, but anyone can listen to the chat and there is no need for a link. A maximum of 50 speakers can be in a Live Audio Room, but there is no limit on the number of listeners.

Live audio rooms can also be hosted by Specific Facebook Groups. Though, only the admins have authority over whether moderators, group members, or other admins can start one. Anyone can join the Live Audio Room in public groups, but only members may join in private groups.

People may listen to podcasts while browsing Facebook via a mini player or full-screen player experience with playback options, even with their phone display turned off, according to Facebook’s blog.
