Xiaomi has unveiled its latest gaming smartphone series in China, Black Shark 5 series. After a long wait, along with a series of rumours, the series is finally official. Both the devices in the series bring a new design as opposed to the predecessors. In addition, it claims to have the latest hardware under the hood. Moreover, these gaming smartphones come with a 720Hz touch sampling rate display. There is currently no word on the launch of the two gaming smartphones in India or other markets.

Black Shark 5 Series Price
In terms of pricing, the Black Shark 5 and Shark 5 Pro have multiple storage configurations to choose from. Starting with its premium model, Shark 5 Pro comes with 8GB of RAM along with 256GB of internal storage pricing at CNY 4199 (roughly Rs. 50,100). Whereas, the 12GB + 256GB and 16GB + 512GB storage options are available at CNY 4699 (roughly Rs 56,100) and CNY 5499 (roughly Rs 65,600) respectively. The phone comes in Meteorite Black and White colour options.
In the meantime, Black Shark 5 comes in 8GB + 128GB, 12GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB storage options. These are pricing at CNY 2799 (roughly Rs 33,400), CNY 2999 (roughly Rs 35,800) and CNY 3299 (roughly Rs 39,300). It is available in Black, White, and Grey colour options.

Black Shark 5 Series Specifications
Both the devices in the series come with a 6.67-inch FHD+(2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution display with up to 144Hz refresh rate. Moreover, it has 1300 nits of peak brightness. The screen also has support for HDR10+, DC Dimming and a 720Hz touch sampling rate. It also comes with a dual-zone pressure-sensitive display, something similar to the iQOO 9 series. The display also has SGS Blu-ray certification and an 8.3ms multi-finger touch response delay.
Under the hood, Black Shark 5 Pro gets the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, whereas the vanilla model has a Snapdragon 870 SoC. Both devices come with a vapour chamber cooling system. The Pro model gets a larger thermal cooling coil. The devices also come with dedicated trigger buttons for an enhanced gaming experience.

In terms of optics, the Pro has a 108-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 5-megapixel telephoto camera. Meanwhile, the vanilla model gets a 64-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 13-megapixel ultrawide sensor. For selfies and video calls/ streaming, both the phones feature a 16-megapixel front camera.
Furthermore, the Black Shark 5 series packs a 4,650mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging technology. The company claims that the phone can be fully charged in just 15 minutes. Both phones boot on Android 12 OS and have JoyUI 13 on top. In addition, Pro comes with a speaker setup that scored an impressive 86 points on the DXOMARK audio test. The devices also come with dedicated trigger buttons for an enhanced gaming experience.
