WhatsApp confirmed the launch of its new Archived Chats feature on Tuesday, which would allow people to keep their archived chats muted even if they receive a new text in an archived message thread. This implies that unless you manually unarchive them, all of your archived chats will remain hidden forever. The update was first made available to some iPhone users last week and is now rolling out to both Android and iOS users. To access the feature, make absolutely sure you have the most latest version of the application on your smartphone.

WhatsApp New Archive Chats Feature
According to a blog post by the Facebook-owned company; the latest update is intended to provide users greater control over their chats and help them remain on top of their most important chats.
Prior to the upgrade, whenever a user received a new message in an archived individual or group chat thread on WhatsApp, the thread would unarchive. WhatsApp, on the other hand, stated that many of its users showed a desire for archived conversations to remain archived and tucked away from their normal messages in the Archived Chats section. As a result, it has made the change to its Archived Chats settings.

If you don’t want less-important chats to surface in your main chats list, you can archive them using the new options. All you have to do is archive individual and group chats that you do not want to appear on your list. WhatsApp will keep your archived conversations separate by default, even if you get new texts.
You can, however, disable the new settings by unchecking the Keep Chats Archived option in the app’s Chats settings menu. You will not receive notifications for messages received in archived chat threads unless you are mentioned or replied to.

Users Can Choose to Not Use The feature
Even though the feature appears to be useful, it may not be appealing to everyone. If users do not wish to employ the new feature; they can return back to the original Archived folder implementation via the app’s settings.
