The Samsung Galaxy S22 family is one of the most eagerly awaited releases of 2022, and after so many leaks, there are just a few mysteries remaining. The actual debut is still a few days away, but we already know what to anticipate. In case you missed them all, here’s a synopsis.
In summary, the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Samsung Galaxy S22+ will keep the same design (with slight tweaks) while updating the camera technology. The Samsung Galaxy S22+ Ultra will have roughly the same camera hardware as last year. But will undergo an almost total makeover of the appearance influenced by the recently terminated Note series. While many leaks have confirmed vital data, there is still a potential that some are incorrect.

The Ultra will be rectangular, with just the camera lenses protruding from the rear. Based on what we’ve seen so far, the cameras will employ last year’s sensors with enhanced image processing. The phone will be a bit wider and complete the S Pen integration begun with the S21 Ultra the previous year. The stylus will be there in the phone, making it a Galaxy Note by name only.

The Galaxy S22 and S22+ will mostly be identical, with the vanilla variant losing a 6.2″ screen for a 6.1″. This will make it smaller and more compact, and it will be the only one limited to 25W charging power (the other two go up to 45W). The rear panel will be glass again. The camera bump will also have new hardware – a 50 MP sensor (GN5), a 12 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical magnification.
Performance
We don’t know how well the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 chipsets will perform. Samsung is transitioning from utilising Mali GPUs for years to one based on AMD’s rDNA 2 with hardware raytracing capability.
