Review Summary

Boult, an Indian company is known for its audio products and smartwatches at a pocket friendly price. The company recently introduced the Boult W10 TWS at an entry level price tag in the country.

At an incredibly low price of Rs.799, these budget earbuds seem promising, with features like dual device connectivity and 45ms low latency. But are these budget earbuds worth the asking price? I have been using the Boult W10 for a while, and here’s a detailed review of these earbuds.

  • Battery: 55 hours
  • Weight: 49.73 grams

Boult W10 Design And Comfort

The Boult W10 features a faux leather design on the case, which gives it a durable look. Although the in-hand feel is very cheap, given the price range, it is something you will need to compromise on. I have the Jet Black variant of the Boult W10 for review, and it looks good, although only from a noticeable distance.

Furthermore, the case is shaped like a pebble and easily fits in your jeans pocket. At just 49 grams, it is pretty lightweight, and I had no trouble carrying it around.

Earbuds

The earbuds fit pretty snugly and don’t easily fall out of your ears. However, the overall comfort leaves much to be desired, as it is akin to wearing cheap wired earbuds.

The earbuds are also made out of plastic and should be durable for the most part although I wouldn’t recommend wearing them for a long periods of time especially if you are sensitive to thumpy bass (which I will discuss in depth in the next section).

Pairing Button

Apart from the minimalist Boult branding on the front, the case has a USB-C port at the bottom for charging. The earbuds also have a dedicated pairing button inside the case, something you will find missing even on premium earbuds. Furthermore, the Boult W10 has an IPX5 rating, so you can easily use it during workouts without any worries.

Boult W10 Audio Quality

The Boult W10 pack 13mm dynamic drivers with Spatial Audio support using Boult’s Boom X technology. The Boult W10 is very heavily tuned towards bass, and if you love thumping bass, then it might be perfect for you. However, there is a big issue: The Boult W10 tends to create an artificial bass even in songs that don’t have one!

Boult W10 Audio Quality

When listening to Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness and Arijit Singh’s Tum Kya Mile, the W10 emphasized the bass more, thus subduing the mids and trebles in the process. Similarly, in Sonu Nigam’s Tanhayee, the vocals are muted, and there is more focus on the bass and the instruments.

However, if you like listening to bass-boosted songs like Two Feet’s I Feel Like I Am Drowning, then you will certainly like the soundstage of the Boult W10. As I am accustomed to using the Oppo Enco Air 3 Pro and the Sony WF-C500 as my daily drivers, I prefer more balanced audio emphasising vocals.

You get SBC and AAC codec support, which is pretty good considering the price range. You get quad microphones with ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation), and the earbuds sound pretty decent, given their price tag.

Boult W10 Battery And Charging

The Boult W10 TWS can easily last an entire week and the company claims it has 55 hours of total playback on a single charge.

Furthermore, a simple 10 minute charge offers 150 minutes of playback time so you are always ready for your gaming sessions.

Boult W10 Features And Connectivity

The Boult W10 feature Bluetooth 5.4 support for a reliable connection and seamless pairing with modern devices. The earbuds get easily connected when you first open the case, and I had no trouble connecting them.

Boult W10 Features

To sweeten the deal, Boult also offers dual device connectivity so you can pair them with two devices at the same time. This feature is generally found on more premium devices, so it’s good that Boult is offering it at this price range.

Furthermore, you get a dedicated gaming mode with 45ms low latency. This makes it perfect for gamers looking for a lag-free experience. The Boult W10 also claim to provide a “Spatial Audio” experience, although I couldn’t find any such option during my review.

Boult W10 Features

Touch controls are available on both earbuds to easily control your audio playback. A single tap can play or pause the music; a double tap takes you to the previous tap, while a triple tap lets you increase or decrease the volume. Four taps allow you to activate the game mode. Sadly, there is no dedicated app support, so you need to rely on the predefined touch controls.

Verdict

If you are looking for a bass-heavy TWS with long-lasting battery life on a tight budget, the Boult W10 might be perfect for you. It offers dual device connectivity, low latency in gaming, and decent call quality.

However, if you want more balanced audio tuning or a more premium build quality, then it’s best to purchase an entry-level IEM like the KZ EDC Pro, which has much better audio quality and also has a much lower price tag.
