Notable Differences
- Samsung has made significant efforts while closing the gaps in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, a noticeable improvement over its predecessor. In Fold 4, users encountered an issue with the screen gap when folding the screen, causing items like Credit cards, parking tickets, etc used, to get stuck frequently. However, in the Z Fold 5, this issue is nearly eliminated by Samsung. If you have experience with both phones or have used the Fold 4 in the past, you will appreciate the difference in this aspect.
- Another difference between both the devices is that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is now 2.4mm thinner than the Fold 4 and 10 grams lighter. It is not noticeable when you just look at the device. But once you experience the device in your hands, you will surely notice the difference.
- One thing I really want to appreciate in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is the fact that the speaker grills are much smaller in Fold 5 than they were in Fold 4. But that does not mean that Samsung has compromised the sound quality of the Z Fold 5. In fact, it is the opposite. The speakers on the Fold 5 are much louder than its predecessor.
- When it comes to processor, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon Gen 8 2 processor, while the Fold 4 has the Gen 8 1 chipset. This means that the Fold 5 is comparatively faster and more efficient than the Fold 4. Even the cooling chamber in the Fold 5 is 38% bigger than the Fold 4. This gives a much better gaming experience in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. This will also give better Artificial Intelligence features to the users.
- Samsung has redesigned the camera module in the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The position of the LED is now moved up and to the side, which is more aligned with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra design. I personally liked this small upgrade.
- When it comes to the display, Samsung has been able to reduce the crease on the screen. It is not completely eliminated but has been reduced significantly in the Fold 5. Also, the display is 350nits brighter than the Samsung Galaxy Fold 4.
One more thing, which is not a difference but a slight upgrade when it comes to the accessories of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Samsung has introduced a new case for the Fold 5 with a stylus in it to be able to use the device much more conveniently.
Should You Upgrade?
I understand that Samsung has not made major changes to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. But when you talk about the User Experience, all the changes mentioned are significant changes that will improve the overall user experience a great deal.
The new Icy Blue colour is refreshing and looks pleasing to the eye as well.
In the end, I can say that if you are a fan of great user experience, then you can surely upgrade to the Fold 5. All the minor changes which Samsung has introduced in this one are important and will enhance your experience.
Also, the new case makes all the difference as well. You won’t be able to use this case in the Fold 4 because the Camera has been redesigned. Samsung has also promised new features coming in the device with the upcoming software updates, so who knows what can be in store for this device?
But if you are someone who wants a major change in terms of look, then it makes sense to skip this device and wait for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.
