  • If you use Zoom for all of your video meetings and virtual gatherings, you need to update your software as soon as possible. Because of a security hole, hackers were able to infect your PC, Android, and iOS devices with malware. According to reports, malware is then unlawfully put on the device after a simple message is sent to the device. The problem is not there now.

The Zoom Client for Meetings was reporting to work on Android, iOS and Linux, and Windows before version 5.10.0. However, a server switch request is not correctly validating by the Client for Meetings (android/iPhone/Linux/macOS/Windows) before version 5.10.0.

As it points out in a blog post, “this flaw might get utilise in a more complex attack to deceive the client of an unwary user’s computer into connecting to a hostile server”. In February, a Google Project Zero bug researcher spotted the vulnerability and reported it to Zoom.

A hacker needs to be able to communicate with a victim through chat. It is using the XMPP protocol, according to a blog post by Fratric. Then, a particular strategy targets unsuspecting individuals and infects their devices with harmful programmes. To make matters worse, if a user ignores the danger notification, it will still infect his computer or mobile phone. As a result, Android, iPhone, and Windows devices may all attack using this software.

“This study explains how a rogue individual might access another user’s account using Zoom chat.” A successful assault does not need any human intervention. Zoom chat via XMPP protocol requires only the capacity to send messages to the victim through Zoom chat is for an attacker,” stated Frantic.
