For the last couple of years, Samsung has been the worlds largest smartphone manufacturer. And finally after four years, Apple has finally dethroned Samsung from its position.
The report comes from Gartner, stating that Apple has in the last quarter of the year 2020, Apple was able to sell more smartphone than its Korean counterpart.

How did Apple beat Samsung?
Also, the Cupertino based company has generated more profit than Samsung itself. The reports state that in Q4 2020, Apple has sold more than 79.9 million units, while Samsung sold just 62.1 million. In terms of percentage, Apple has currently a market share of 20.8 per cent, with Samsung standing in at 16.2 per cent.
Even when the smartphone market recorded a 5.4 per cent decline in the last quarter, Apple steadily increased its year on year increase by 14.9 per cent.

Even as consumers remained cautious in their spending and held off on some discretionary purchases, 5G smartphones and pro-camera features encouraged some end users to purchase new smartphones or upgrade their current smartphones in the quarter.

In the year 2020, the smartphone industry as a whole recorded a decline of 12.5 per cent. Apple recorded its best-ever sales figures in the last quarter of 2020. The Cupertino based company has recorded a 57 per cent increase in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Greater China.

The iPhone 12 sales figures have been gradually increasing this year, contributing to the overall revenue generated by Apple. According to various reports, 2021 is expected to be a good year for the smartphone industry.
