With the recent failure of the Microsoft Surface Duo, it does not seem that the Surface Solo will be making the same mistake. The duo is a premium offering which comes with two displays. On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Solo actually seems to be a regular smartphone. Jonas Daehnert, the accomplished industrial smartphone designer has now visualized this possible device.

Microsoft Surface Solo: What To Expect?
Going by Jonas Daehnert’s visualization, the Microsoft Surface Solo will look similar to modern day flagship devices. However, there are definitely certain new design elements that the artist has visualized. One thing to note is that the Solo may not have the 3.5mm headphone jack like the Microsoft Surface Duo. There will be a USB Type-C port for synchronizing data and charging the device. is expected to look similar to the modern flagship smartphone with some new design elements.
Just like the Surface Duo, the Solo might not have a 3.5mm headphone jack and there will be a USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing. As per the renders, the smartphone will have volume rockers and power buttons on the right. Furthermore, there will also be a side-mounted fingerprint scanner on the same side. This placement of buttons is similar to that of the Nokia Lumia devices.
What More?
The Microsoft Surface will have a metal frame. Moreover, the back panel will be that of glass with the Microsoft logo embedded within it. The renders also reveal that the top right corner of the smartphone will house a single camera alongside the LED flash.
The Microsoft Surface Solo will have a completely bezel-less display alongside a punch-hole cutout at the front. Also, as this will be a premium offering, we can expect the smartphone to have an AMOLED display. We can also expect to see a high refresh rate on the smartphone.

Furthermore, the Microsoft Surface Solo will have Google Play Services. This will allow users to download and install millions of apps from the Play Store. Additionally, this implies that the device will run on Android OS. Considering this is a premium smartphone, the device is expected to offer an AMOLED display with a higher refresh rate.

The Microsoft Surface Solo will also have a thin form factor like the Surface Duo. However, this might imply a smaller battery capacity. In case Microsoft makes a Surface Solo and it comes with this design, it will be priced at around $1,000.
However, these are pure visualizations and nothing has been confirmed from the company’s side. If the Microsoft Surface Solo is released by the company, it will definitely be a great device to get your hands on. We hope the company does launch something along these visualizations of the device.
