A few years back Android tablets had a good run with quite a lot of budget tablets that were available in the market. But gradually these faded away as none of the low-medium end tablets was good enough in terms of performance. And since then Apple iPads have single-handedly dominated the space and Android powered tablets had no room.
Over the past year things have stirred up a bit and in the Android space, there are a few good options. If you are a student who just wants to watch Netflix and edit a few images or even play some games then Samsung has been doing well delivering some excellent Android-powered tablets. One such tablet is Samsung’s Tab A7 which was announced in 2020 and still holds good.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A7: Gaming Performance
The Galaxy Tab A7 is one of the better tablets that provides you with great overall performance. Samsung does a great job creating smartphones that can go toe to toe with the best that Apple has to offer. Similarly, with their Tab A7 Samsung provides you with decent gaming performance and a price tag that does not wreck your pocket.
It may not offer the best FPS when you are gaming but surely offers solid enough performance. Another thing you can’t ignore about it is its battery life, which is far better than what the competitors have to offer. Samsung Galaxy Tab A7: Decent tool for students
The Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 features a 10.4-inch display that provides students with an engaging visual experience for remote learning. The Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 has a 5MP front-facing camera which is good enough for attending zoom calls and an 8MP rear-facing camera with autofocus for assignments that require taking images.
Apart from that, the tab has hardware that is good enough to provide you with juice for editing photos with Adobe Lightroom or editing videos with Adobe Premiere Pro. The Snapdragon 662 chip is fast enough to provide you with graphics performance for apps like Canva, PhotoGrid, Photoshop Express Photo Editor, and many more. Most of these apps are sufficient for students and the Galaxy Tab A7 is a decent companion for students at a budget price.

Comparison with Apple iPad 8th Gen
The Apple iPad 10.2 (8th gen) doesn’t have the most attractive design and looks outdated with thick bezels around the display and Touch ID, unlike the current iPad Pro. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is comparatively thin and has narrow bezels. But overall the build materials used in the iPad are much more premium than the Tab A7.
The iPad 10.2 is a better tablet in terms of performance as well since it has a more powerful processor: the Apple A13 Bionic, which is also found in the iPhone Xs series. The tablet boasts excellent performance and a refined operating system (iPad OS). Compared to Android, the iPad OS is a much more refined OS and runs without any lags or hiccups. As a result, the iPad 10.2 8th generation triumphs in both hardware and software comparisons. However, some people may prefer Android to iOS since it allows for more customization. Also, the iPad 8th gen costs about double compared to Galaxy Tab A7 so this makes the real difference and a buyer with a limited budget should prefer the Galaxy Tab A7.

Comparison with Mi Pad 5
With Mi Pad 5 it is clearly suggestive of the iPad Pro clone, with squared-off corners, a small bezel, and quality materials. Samsung Galaxy tab A7 lacks in this area with’s budget design and not so premium components.
However, the display isn’t bad in other areas. This is a large 11-inch panel with a 2.5K resolution (1600 x 2560). Despite the fact that it’s an IPS LCD rather than an OLED, it has a wide colour gamut and supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision. On the other hand, the Tab A7 boasts a display with 2000 x 1200 WUXGA resolution and it will also provide you with a good picture quality day in and day out.
The Snapdragon 860, an overclocked version of an older Qualcomm flagship chipset, is a crucial element that provides the Mi Pad 5 with a performance boost. Essentially, you get enough power to do most everyday chores and keep this capable of playing even demanding games at reasonable settings.
For Samsung Tab A7, processing speeds are above average. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 CPU with 3GB of RAM powers the tablet. This combination provided enough juice to get the tablet through most chores. Attending Video conference calls, browsing the internet, YouTube, and social networking didn’t put much of a strain on the tablet. I would have liked to see more RAM from both devices. Especially from Tab A7 as it has only 3GB which limits the multitasking capabilities. Apart from that both the tablets are good enough to consider.
Price and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is one of the balanced Android tablets available in the market right now. While I did find a few things to criticize but overall the Tab A7 provides a pleasant experience. The Tab A7 nearly has it all, with a robust build quality, a beautiful screen, long battery life, and powerful performance. The Galaxy Tab A7 has a price tag of Rs. 17,999 and is available offline and you can purchase it online via Amazon as well.
