  • Samsung announced their new S Series line of smartphones for the year 2020, and they do tend to bring significant upgrades over the past year’s smartphones, They launched the Samsung Galaxy S20, the S20 Plus, and the S20 Ultra. Other than just being different in dimensions, these three smartphones are quite different from each other in multiple ways be it the camera’s, the display and a lot more. And that is what we are going to be comparing today so that you can make your decision without shelling out extra money for the other smartphones. Instead of just directly comparing the specifications, we will do first let you know what are the similarities so that you can concentrate on the differences and choose which smartphone is the right one for you.

    Similarities:

The actual screen quality on all these three of the smartphones is the same. With the quality, we do not mean the screen size, but the screen quality. All these three of the smartphones have a QHD+ 2K Dynamic AMOLED Display with the same exact resolution and all three of these phones do in fact support a 120-Hz refresh rate. With regards to the actual screen, all three phones come with support for HDR 10+.

Next, The actual performance on all these three phones is the same, as they pack in the exact same Exynos 990 chipset. All three phones are equally amazing when it comes to performance, but we would not recommend any of these three smartphones if you like to game on your smartphone. All these smartphones of S20 series have microSD expansion options, so if you want to add extra storage to any one of these phones, you can expand your storage with a micro SD card up to one terabyte of extra storage.

All the three S20, S20+ and the S20 Ultra come with wireless charging capabilities with support for wireless power share (reverse wireless charging). One more important thing, all of them come with a built-in in-display fingerprint scanner. In the audio department, all of them have stereo speakers, which means they have two speakers and they all come with Dolby Atmos sound so users get exceptional audio experience from those stereo speakers on all of them.

    Differences:

    Pricing:

Samsung Galaxy S20 vs S20+ vs S20 ultra

Let’s start off with the biggest differences between all these three smartphones, the Pricing. The Samsung Galaxy S20 has been priced in India is Rs.66,999, this is the smaller guy with a 6.2 display, making up for a compact smartphone. Next, The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus, the middle one, starts at Rs. 76,999 in India and packs in a 6.7-inch display, and finally, the S20 Ultra starts at Rs. 92,999 in India and this one has a crazy 6.9-inch display, just remember that the quality of the displays is all the same and it is just the screen size that matters. So this is the first thing one must look at while choosing any one of these, do you want the largest possible screen?, Or do you want something that fits into your hands properly, or want a compact phone that fits perfectly in your hand?

    Cameras:

    s20 camera comparison

Now, onto to the biggest differences, and that’s the camera’s and that’s the area you should really focus on. The Samsung Galaxy S20 and the S20 Plus have a similar camera setup, but the S20 Ultra is a whole other level. The Samsung Galaxy S20 packs in a triple rear camera setup with a wide view main camera, an ultra-wide lens, and a telephoto lens. The telephoto camera can do 3x Optical and 30x Hybrid Zoom. So you can zoom in on a faraway subject is subjects all the way to 30 times hybrid zoom. The Samsung Galaxy S20 has a 12-megapixel main camera which is the standard camera most people use, and then, we do have the 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera for wide sweeping shots, and then, you do have that 64-megapixel telephoto camera.

Now with the S20 Plus, users get the exact same triple rear cameras like the S20 but it has one little extra camera which is not a big deal, and that’s the depth vision camera and all that camera does is when you take a portrait shot of somebody you get a nicer background blur, so the subject remains in focus but the background gets blurred out.

Now when we jump to the S20 Ultra, this is where things get very interesting. The Ultra has four cameras on the back, and it’s got the same depth vision camera that you get on the S20 plus but everything else is on a whole other level. The main camera is 108-megapixels, which implies that the images come out crisper shots with more detail in them, with the main 108-megapixel lens. Then we have the 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and then we do have have a magical camera which is a 48-megapixel Telephoto lens, and this enables you to do a 100x hybrid zoom. If you are a person who wants to zoom in too far far away subjects, you have to opt this S20 Ultra.

Overall, if you want the best array of cameras then the S20 Ultra with the 108 Megapixels, this is the best camera smartphone. One more thing that might be a big deal for some people is the front camera, so the front camera on the S20 and the S20 Plus is a 10-megapixel camera, but on the S20 ultra, it’s 40 megapixels. Now with the front camera, it’s not gonna be a big deal but you’re still going to get slightly better quality with the S20 Ultra. Especially if you’re somebody that uses the front camera all the time to take selfies or maybe, do video conferencing or even vlogging.

    Battery and Charging:

    s20 battery comparison

Next, we come to the three smartphone’s battery capacity. With the S20 users get 4,000mAh battery, a 4,500mAh on the S20 Plus and a giant 5,000mAh on the S20 Ultra. So most likely the ultra is going to be the longest battery life as per the specifications, but that does not mean the other two are going to be bad. The only thing is the S20 Ultra is probably going to have a little more juice at the end of the day compared to the other two. When it comes to fast charging, as per the names, only the S20 ultra has support for 45W Fast Charging. The other two, the S20 and the S20 Plus, can be charged at a maximum of 25W which is pretty fast too.

So those are all the differences, And now let’s move on and talk about the conclusion on which of these three smartphones you should choose. So here’s the formula, if you are the one who wants the best of the best cameras or simply the best and the largest screen, the S20 Ultra fits in the spot for you. Those are basically the only two major things that are different on this phone that is not on the other two. Remember performance, the quality of the display, the build quality it’s all the same but the camera on the S20 Ultra is better, the screen is larger and it’s simply the best of the best. If you are a guy who wants to save some money and are not too crazy about the cameras, then the S20 or the S20 Plus fits in right for you.
