Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi teased a gaming smartphone a while ago. Now, today the company confirmed its first Redmi gaming phone will launch at the end of April. This will offer a flagship-level, hardcore gaming experience and will be a cost-effective offering. The company also said that its aim is to create a gaming flagship for more players.

In a related post, Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing provided details about why the company was venturing into this space. He also revealed that Redmi has partnered with Call of Duty: Mobile to optimize the game experience through continuous improvements. Additionally, Redmi’s gaming phone can launch in April with an aim to provide a “[gaming] flagship to more players”.

However, the company did not reveal the exact date of the launch. It has not delved out any information about the launch of the phone in markets outside China.
While we await more official info from Redmi about its first gaming phone, last month, a reliable tipster claimed Redmi will launch a gaming smartphone with the Dimensity 1200 SoC at the helm. Moreover, FoneArena reports the smartphone is rumored to come with a Samsung E4 AMOLED screen featuring a 144Hz refresh rate. In addition, apart from a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 5,000mAh battery with 65W fast charging support.

It will be the first phone from the brand to offer MIUI 12.5 out-of-the-box experience.
