OnePlus recently launched its latest flagship – OnePlus 10 Pro. But it looks like the rumours mills are suggesting a more premium variant in the works for the series. A OnePlus 10 Ultra might be in the pipeline as a more powerful variant than the Pro. Moreover, as tipster Yogesh Brar suggests this ultra flagship is reportedly undergoing testing. Although no confirmation has surfaced yet, but chances are it could launch sometime around the second half of 2022.

OnePlus 10 Ultra in EVT Phase
According to Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh), an “ultra flagship” OnePlus smartphone is in the works. It is speculating to launch as OnePlus10 Ultra. Brar also mentions the smartphone is currently undergoing engineering verification testing (EVT) at the moment. This is hinting that it may launch in the coming months. Basically it means that the device is in its early alpha testing stage. If the report is true, we should start hearing about the Ultra flagship in the coming weeks.
Furthermore, Brar shared a rumour a while ago that the OnePlus Ultra flagship will use technology developed by OPPO. Since then, OnePlus and OPPO collaborated to share technologies. In the end, the OPPO Find X5 used the Hasselblad technology from OnePlus. Considering this, OnePlus might borrow the OPPO-developed MariSilicon NPU chipset to improve its performance in both photos and videos.

For those unaware, Oppo MariSilicon X is a neural processing unit (NPU) that claims to improve images for videos and photographs taken using smartphones.
But if this ultra variant flagship is indeed true, it will be interesting to see how the buyers respond to the launch. As the OnePlus 10 Pro already comes with several premium performance features and design. It consists of a 48-megapixel Hasselblad camera, Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and up to 12GB RAM. Meanwhile, its’ top variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant currently costs CNY 5,299, or around Rs. 61,500.
