Google Meet adds a number of new features to make it easier to regulate its free and workplace users. The new features, according to Google, are among the most often requested by its users. The ability to add up to 25 co-hosts each meeting, additional moderation and safety features, and an improved Quick access setting is among them. It’s also worth noting that Google says that not all features will be available to everyone.

Google Meet Rolls out New Features
Google mentions on its Workspace blog that Google Meet users would be able to offer access to up to 25 co-hosts when conducting a meeting. You can achieve this by granting controls to these users on the Host Panel. All of the co-hosts will have access to the host’s controls and will be able to use them.
Through the Quick access options, hosts and co-hosts can now limit who can share screens, send chat messages, mute all participants with one click, stop the meeting for all, and manage who can join the meeting and how.

Participants from the same domain can join the meeting automatically from the mobile client or the Google Conference desk by dialling in when quick access options are enabled. The default setting for quick access would be enabled in Google Meet. If this is not done, however, participants should wait until the host joins the meeting, only invited participants would be able to join and the rest would need to get permission granted to join in; no anonymous user could join the meeting. Finally, only the host can dial off from the meeting if quick access is turned off.

Google Meet has also improved the People’s panel by adding a new feature to search the participants in the meeting. This allows hosts to navigate fast to a user to mute their microphone, remove it or grant them co-host privileges. The security shield icon can be used to identify the co-hosts.
Google Meet on Android and the Web will begin to gradually implement the update from August 16; while iOS users will be given the features from August 30.
