The Apple iPhone 14 series was revealed on September 7, 2022, at Apple’s Far Out event. On the flip side, the Samsung Galaxy S23 might follow the pattern of older S series phones and could be revealed on February 2023. Even though the release dates are far apart, the comparisons between the Apple and Samsung flagships have already started. So, this article will provide you with a comparison of the iPhone 14 vs Samsung Galaxy S23 to decide which could be the better phone.
However, we must remember that even though the iPhone 14 specifications are official now, there’s not much we know about the Galaxy S23 so far. Nonetheless, we will use what we know about these phones to make a fair comparison. Without any further ado, let’s get started!

iPhone 14 vs Samsung Galaxy S23: Price in India
The Apple iPhone 14’s pricing in India starts from Rs. 79,900. Bear in mind that this pricing could increase thanks to the import duties and taxes that could be levied in the future. Considering all factors, you can still expect the iPhone 14 price in India to be the same throughout the year.
For the Samsung Galaxy S23, we’ll have to look at the pricing of the previous phones in the lineup. Based on the prices of the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Samsung Galaxy S21, you can expect the Samsung Galaxy S23 to ship out for $799. In Indian currency, that’s about INR 63,745. However, due to import duties and taxes we could see a price bum there as well.

Moving on to the display, the iPhone 14 has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel. There were previous rumours of Apple including a 90Hz panel, although those turned out to be speculation, as it only came with a standard 60Hz panel.
For the Samsung Galaxy S23, we don’t expect too many changes from the Galaxy S22. So, the Galaxy S23 will probably be equipped with a 6.1-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, called Samsung’s signature Infinity-O Display.
In terms of design, the iPhone 14 still comes with the notch design and does not replace it with a pill and hole cutout for a more screen-to-body ratio, like the Apple iPhone 14 Pro series. Apple also doesn’t seem too keen to change the Lightning port for the USB-C port just yet, as it still comes without a Type C port. The rest of the design elements are also similar to the iPhone 13.
The Samsung Galaxy S23’s design should also remain similar to its predecessor. So, expect the Galaxy S23 to look remarkably similar to the Galaxy S22, with little or no changes whatsoever.

iPhone 14 vs Samsung Galaxy S23: Performance and Storage
The base iPhone 14 also has the same A15 Bionic processor instead of the rumoured A16 Bionic chipset on the pro models. The storage options remain the same, with 128GB storage for the base variant and 512GB for the top variant.
The Samsung Galaxy S series is usually the first flagship phone with Qualcomm’s latest processors. So, you can expect the Samsung Galaxy S23 to have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. This is highly likely, even though the processor hasn’t been announced yet. Moreover, in terms of storage, the base variant would also start with a 128GB storage option.

iPhone 14 vs Samsung Galaxy S23: Camera Setups
The iPhone 14 doesn’t see any upgrade over its predecessors, as it still comes with a dual-camera setup comprising a 12 Megapixel lens and a 12 Megapixel ultra-wide angle lens. We can, though, expect to see plenty of software optimisations for better computational photography as well. We don’t see any changes on the front, as it still comes with the 12 Megapixel selfie shooter.
Samsung’s Galaxy S series is renowned for its camera setups, however. Conflicting rumours are unsure about whether Samsung will include an upgrade to the telephoto lens with the Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup. So, for now, we can take the safe route and expect the Samsung Galaxy S23 to have a triple-camera setup similar to its predecessor. This means a 12MP Ultra Wide Camera, 50MP Wide Camera, and a 10MP Telephoto Camera. On the front, there should be a 10MP selfie shooter.
iPhone 14 vs Samsung Galaxy S23: Battery and Charging
Since Apple does not usually reveal the battery capacity of iPhones, all we can expect is a similar size battery to the iPhone 13. Moreover, the iPhone 14 does not see a charging upgrade in charging speeds. Of course, Apple will also include software optimisations for better battery life with every update, including the iOS 16 update.
We expect better battery life for the Samsung contender than what was offered in the Samsung Galaxy S22. Without a significant upgrade, the Samsung Galaxy S23 could see a 5000 mAh battery with 45W fast charging capabilities.
Final thoughts
Since the launch of the iPhone 14 has just concluded, we have much more information on it than we do on the Samsung Galaxy S23. However, since the latter will most likely launch on February 2023, you can expect a few more details to come to light quite soon. Until then, we’ll have to rely on estimations and speculations to understand what Samsung could be cooking up with the Samsung Galaxy S23.
