This is definitely to future-proof their devices. 5G connectivity will slowly and gradually make the 4G LTE devices obsolete if one might say so. It is understandable why the Huawei MatePad 5G version has been released by the company.

Huawei MatePad 5G Specifications
The Huawei MatePad 5G is similar to the base 10.4 model in terms of specifications. However, the difference lies in the use of processor which makes a big difference between the two. The MatePad 5G is powered by the Kirin 820 5G unlike the Kirin 810 in the base model. The Kirin 820 uses the Mali-G57 MP6 GPU which is 30% faster than the Kirin 810 GPU. Furthermore, the tablet runs on Android 10 with the EMUI 10.1 on top.
Furthermore, the premium tablet comes in a sole 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage variant. Additionally, the internal storage is expandable as well.
The MatePad 5G features a 10.4-inch IPS LCD which has a resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels. This is exactly the same as the base MatePad version. Furthermore, the tablet also has the same 8-megapixel front camera for selfies. The rear camera is also that of an 8-megapixel one like the base model. Additionally, the tablet also comes with four speakers and four microphones.

The tablet packs a 7250 mAh battery along with 22.5W fast charging support. This is slightly more than the 18W fast charge support we get to see on the base model. Also, there is a USB Type-C port for charging the device.
Charging is done over the USB-C port, which now has to serve double duty as the wired headphones port – the 3.5 mm jack has been dropped (at least you get a Type-C to 3.5 mm adapter in the box).
What More?
The Huawei MatePad 5G supports a lot of accessories as well. For starters, a hardware keyboard cover for the device is available. Additionally, the M-pencil stylus can also be purchased for a seamless experience on the device. Furthermore, the tablet also supports Huawei’s destop experience which literally turns it into a laptop. This is a great feature for people who need a laptop replacement and are always on the run.
The global availability of the device is still unknown and we do want to hear from the company about it. All-in-all, the Huawei MatePad 4G seems like a solid device with a pretty good processor indeed.
