Apple has been hoping to launch its digital payment feature called Apple Pay India for a long time now. And guess what? Apple users in India will soon get the good news as the tech giant is planning to launch its payment service in the country.

Nowadays, the Indian market is dominated by Google Pay, Paytm, and PhonePe. However, not anymore! Apple Pay is predicated on making its much-anticipated entry into the Indian Fintech market shortly.

As per the sources, Apple has engaged in an initial-level discussion with the NPCI – National Payments Corporation of India. They are planning to introduce the localised version of the application, customised specially for the Indian market. And these preliminary talks between Apple and NPCI have given momentum, signifying that Apple Pay will soon be launched in India.

The idea behind it is users can ditch their physical wallet and, instead of it select the more convenient option for carrying credit and debit cards in their Apple devices.

It is that most Indian smartphones and POS machines do not support NFC.

Soon, Indian iPhone users will be able to scan QR codes and execute transactions through the UPI – Unified Payment System, just like other well-known digital payment apps. In short, this feature will improve convenience and streamline the payment process for Apple Pay users.

As per the report, Tim Cook (CEO of Apple) met with the Indian authorities and tried to negotiate Apple Pay’s localised version. So, Apple Pay India users will be able to do their UPI transactions without using any third-party apps. Besides, Apple also wants that users can confirm UPI transactions via the Face ID feature. It is still in process. Besides, Apple has not geared up for negotiations with local bank partners up till now.
