  • Review Summary

Recently, Tecno launched a budget-friendly 5G phone, which is called the Tecno Spark 30C 5G. It’s low price and an exciting feature advertisement will catch your attention. Moreover, you can change it quickly by adding quirky skin to the Transformer Edition.

While the actual Transformer Edition was launched outside India, this Indian version comes with a skin to replicate that vibe. I feel Tecno has tried something bold here, and while it isn’t a full-blown Transformers-themed phone, it’s still an exciting touch for fans. Apart from this, Tecno also promises several exciting features in display, design camera, performance, etc.

So, it raised many questions about whether it will perform what it promised. Is this phone good for multimedia uses and several other aspects? So, I am here to give you a detailed Tecno Spark 30C 5G review, which I’ve been using for the last 20 days, like my first phone. Let’s see my personal experience and what I perceived from it.

I’m using a higher variant for review. You will get three colours: Aurora Cloud, Azure Sky and Midnight Shadow. This phone is available to buy on Flipkart and Amazon.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Design and Build

The Tecno Spark 30C 5G looks stylish and premium-looking from the outside, considering the price. With flat surfaces, the design is similar to modern flagship devices and is still lightweight, given that it contains an extensive battery of 5,000mAh.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: Design

The Transformer skin provided in the box raises the stakes further. This isn’t something mandatory, but if you choose to, you will give the phone a trademark look, that of Bumblebee or Optimus Prime. For me, a fully wrapped Transformer Edition, like the international variants, gives a perfect look. But then again, it is a budget phone, so I am not going to be too critical.

Moving on to the phone design, you will see the camera’s lens like the Newly launched Apple iPhone 16. It is designed to give the impression of a dual-camera module, but alas, it’s a gimmick since there is only one camera, which is 48MP. While the other is a prop.

Tecno has made this decision to create a high-end appearance, but I think they do not create a mirage. You will see a ring flash, which goes hand in hand with the camera, is also included. Its flash is not too bright, but it’s okay.

Furthermore, its hands-on experience is great on the top of the phone, which has a speaker strip and IP blaster.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: Design

On the right side, it has a volume button and power button with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

At the bottom of the phone is a speaker strip. Type-C slot for charging and a 3.5mm earphone jack. Additionally, the left side of the phone has a SIM tray, which contains two nano-size SIMs or a nano-size SIM and SD card simultaneously.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: Design

To protect from splashes and dust, it has an IP54 rating. Overall, Tecno has done a commendable job with the design, so the Tecno Spark 30C 5G design review is excellent. It would’ve been perfect if they had provided a charger in the box.

    Tecno Spark 30C 5G Camera

Let’s take a look at the Tecno Spark 30C 5G cameras to review. Starting with the primary camera, the 48MP lens sporting a Sony IMX582 sensor is commendable in well-lit surroundings.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: Design

The outdoor shots are crisp and bright and portray colours nicely. HDR does a good job, too, and saves high-contrast images quite easily. Portrait mode doesn’t disappoint as well and does well with edge cutouts, but the blur effect could be better.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G camera sample

This is a budget phone, so you will not get it excellent in every segment. So, I was doing Low-light photography.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G camera sample

The cameras perform poorly when there is little light and produce grain and noise. Night shots are bearable but of deficient quality, which is expected when considering this price segment.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G camera sample

The 8MP front camera is decent for selfies outdoors. You can see my selfies, and I think it performed well. However, selfies can appear washed and out of focus indoors or in low-light southern areas. For video recording, the primary camera can record at 1080p at 30 fps.

However, it is missing OIS and has an EIS that works all right at best but certainly not to the extent of capturing the best images.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G camera sample

Overall, the Tecno Spark 30C 5G camera review is good enough to please casual users. However, if you are photogenic or photography is your main priority, I genuinely suggest you should look for other options.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Battery and Charging

Tecno Spark 30C 5G comes with a 5000mAh battery that easily lasts a full day of moderate use. Whether you’re gaming, watching videos, or browsing, you won’t find yourself rushing to a charger before the day ends. Light users might even get two days of use.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: Battery

There is no charger in the box. But it supports only 18W fast charging, which is worse. You’ll need to purchase one separately, which can be frustrating. In 2024, even budget phones should come with chargers, especially when charging speeds aren’t groundbreaking. So, Tecno Spark 30C 5G battery review is also decent.

    Tecno Spark 30C 5G Display

Tecno Spark 30C 5G comes with a 6.67 inch IPS LCD screen. Its display also has a 120Hz refresh rate. So, pulling down notifications and changing social media pages or performing any other tasks isn’t an uphill battle, thanks to the high refresh rate.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: Display

However, it does not have an AMOLED display, and you will feel that the display looks a little bit light black. Primarily an LCD display, the resolution transfers well on a large scale, but as one might expect, it sometimes becomes grainy when playing videos or climbing through photos.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: Display

It comes with a peak brightness of 480 nits, which is alright but not great by any means. In direct sunlight, it is bearable, but you’ll find yourself going through some effort. It’s more than useful for viewing movies as the screen is Widevine L1 compliant, so HD content works on aid. The addition of 1080p videos on YouTube is also beneficial. So, AMOLED fans are certainly going to be disappointed as the LCDS are not colour-bang types; they’re more vivid than dull but aren’t stunning either.

For an entry-level smartphone, I would go as far as to say the display is acceptable. But I think Tecno can do better with such competitive pricing.

    Tecno Spark 30C 5G Performance

The Tecno Spark 30C 5G features a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, which is ideal for the price range of this device. It does pretty well as a processor, which is agreeable to other competing phones at a higher price. You can do basic tasks like web surfing, messaging, and video-playing, which load quickly and quite smoothly.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: Gaming

The performance while playing games is not a good choice. I just played BGMI for one hour, and my phone suddenly stopped working. You will also face severe downtime and lag during gameplay. I also played Asphalt 9 for one hour, and the phone got warmed. So, this is not for gaming.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: RAM

The phone has satisfactory multitasking performance, allowing LPDDR4 4GB of RAM + 4GB virtual and 64GB of UFS 2.2 type of flash storage. Some can view this as kind of tight, but there are also consolations to it, such as a microSD card slot that can be used to expand storage.

    Tecno Spark 30C 5G Benchmark

I ran several performance tests on the Tecno Spark 30C 5G to review it. Its Geekbench scores are 735 in single-core and 1857 in multi-core. The maximum in the CPU throttling test is 81 per cent. Moreover, its Antutu score is 406049. The 3D Mark Wildlife Extreme Stress Test for stability has an overall score of 98.1 per cent.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Software and UI

Tecno Spark 30C 5G running on HiOS 14.5 based on Android 14. So, it offers a feature-rich and smooth experience.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: OS

The UI is clean for the most part but comes with some bloatware. Thankfully, you can uninstall most pre-installed apps. Otherwise, it can slow your device.

    Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: Android 14

What’s impressive is Tecno’s commitment to updates—three years of major Android updates and four years of security patches.

Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: UI Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: UI Tecno Spark 30C 5G Review: UI

This is rare in this price range and adds significant value to the device. The UI includes handy features like a game mode, gesture navigation, and an IR blaster, which can double as a remote control. So, Tecno Spark 30C 5G UI’s review is decent.

    Verdict

The Tecno Spark 30C 5G is priced at 9,998 rupees for the base variant. It is a compelling option in the budget segment. Its highlights include a stylish design, a 120Hz display, and the capable Dimensity 6300 chipset. The addition of three years of Android updates and four years of security patches makes it a future-proof choice for budget-conscious buyers.

However, I did not like it in some areas, like the HD display, which, while smooth, lacks the sharpness of a Full HD panel. The lack of a charger in the box feels like a letdown, and the cameras, while decent, could’ve been better in low-light scenarios. You will also not be able to play games on it.

So, if you’re looking for a budget 5G phone with a unique design and good overall performance, the Tecno Spark 30C 5G is worth considering in my review. But you can also look at other options like OPPO A3X, Xiaomi Redmi 13C 5G, realme C65 5G, realme Narzo 70x 5G, Motorola Moto G45 5G, POCO M6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, etc. I hope you will like my detailed Tecno Spark 30C 5G review.
