In 2007, Chris Messina introduced hashtags, It quickly gained attention and became integral to Twitter and other social media platforms.

In 2009, Twitter introduced the verification tick to address concerns about fake accounts

Twitter introduced promoted tweets and the retweet feature to enhance user experience

Direct messages, Spaces, and Fleets (similar to stories) were introduced to compete with other platforms

It started with 140 character tweet limit. The maximum tweet length was later increased to 280 characters

Under Elon Musk's leadership, users who pay for a subscription can now have up to 25,000 characters
