Redmi K40, K40 Pro, and K40 Pro+ launched at an event in China on Thursday. This series comes as the latest addition to the K-series. Redmi is also asserting that it features the world’s smallest selfie camera cutout. However, the difference lies in the chipset of the three variants in the series. Both the Pro variants – Pro and Pro+ feature the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. Whereas, the regular variant comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC.

Redmi K40 5G Series: Pricing, Availability

The vanilla K40 variant starts at CNY 1999 for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, CNY 2,199 for the 8GB+128GB variant, and CNY 2,499 for the maxed-out variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. This roughly translates to a starting price of Rs 22,500 by direct conversion.

Meanwhile, the Redmi K40 Pro is starting at CNY 2,799 (roughly Rs. 31,500) for the 6GB+128GB variant. Whereas it is CNY 2,999 (33,800) for the 8GB+128GB variant and CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs. 37,000) for the variant with 256GB storage. As for the K40 Pro+, it is available with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage at CNY 3,699 (roughly Rs. 41,600).

Redmi K40 Specifications

It features a 6.67-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) E4 AMOLED display with 1,300 nits of peak brightness. In addition, it also comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. The display also comes with a 20:9 aspect ratio.

Moreover, it has a 2.76mm hole-punch design that is touted to be the smallest in the world. The phone is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC. It comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

In terms of optics, the Redmi K40 features a 48-MP Sony IMX582 primary sensor, along with a 8-MP secondary sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5-MP tertiary sensor with a macro lens. The phone also carries a 20-MP camera sensor at the front for selfies and video chats.

Xiaomi also packs a 4,520mAh battery on the Redmi K40 that supports 33W fast charging.

It also has up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, Infrared (IR), and a USB Type-C port.

RedmiK40 Pro, K40 Pro+ Specifications

It features a 6.67-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) E4 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. The display of the Redmi K40 Pro is also A+ certified by screen benchmarking firm DisplayMate.

Under the hood, there is the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, pairing with up to 8GB of RAM.

In terms of optics, the Redmi K40 Pro carries the triple rear camera setup with a 64-MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor, along with an 8-MP secondary sensor with an ultra-wide-angle 119-degree lens and a 5-MP tertiary sensor.

The Redmi K40 Pro houses up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It includes 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, Infrared (IR), and a USB Type-C port. The phone also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Further, it packs a 4,520mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging.

On the other hand, K40 Pro+ shares the same hardware as the Redmi K40 Pro. However, the storage variant available is 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The phone also has a 108-MP Samsung HM2 primary sensor instead of the 64-MP sensor available on the Redmi K40 Pro. Otherwise, the specs are the same as the Pro variant.
